Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was an English writer who is best known for her horror novel, Frankenstein. She was born in London in 1797 and died in 1851. Shelley wrote Frankenstein when she was only eighteen years old. The novel was published in 1818 and became an instant classic. It has been adapted for film and stage numerous times.
